Mind is all that exists – but there are too many a mind, disassociated and isolated from each other; for every single mind there is only one world – its own. At some point, however, human beings finally managed to bypass the inextricable limits of their private worlds – not by themselves, but through symbols, that is, through Logos, which means through language or logic. Logos creates a common place where all human worlds symbolically meet one another; Logos is collective, not private; as long as I am a homo sapiens (or potentially any other intelligence being) I can never be alone; whenever I use language, millions of people are talking along with me, sometimes in, sometimes out of tune. The inevitable incompatibility of so many different worlds creates a commonplace which can be friendly as well as hostile, much like internet gaming. Therefore, as long as I use logic, I cannot avoid contradiction; it¢s a clash of worlds translated into a clash of symbols. Moreover, as long as I use logic – and this happens even when I¢m not thinking, since logic finally interweaves with the whole of my world – I can never live in imperturbable peace (pay heed to the phrase “come in terms”) with myself, because myself, that is, my world, is not one, but many; the attempt to obtain a total harmony between myself and the world is ultimately futile.
